220 Kg poppy husk seized

Nawanshahr, August 25, 2012: District Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar Police has achieved major success by recovering 220 kg poppy husk during a special campaign launched against the smugglers.

According to available information, a special naka was laid on Friday at 'T' Point Jadla, Rahon by a  police party of CIA SBS Nagar.

The naka party on a tip-off that that one Balwinder Singh , resident of Dera Ranjit Nagar Godar in Karnal District (Haryana)  who is a smuggler of poppy husk is coming to District SBS Nagar to supply consignment  in his truck.

The police party reached at main road Machhiwara, Niamat Pur and started checking of vehicles. A truck bearing No. PB24-A-2499 was stopped.

The truck driver was identified as Balwinder Singh. The police party apprehended him and searched the truck .

The recovery of 220 Kg of poppy husk was made. It was packed in 11 bags.

Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act at Police Station Rahon .

During police investigation, it has been come to notice that four cases under the NDPS Act were already registered against the accused under different police station in Punjab and Haryana.
