24-Hour Rapid Innovation Challenge Concludes with Groundbreaking Solutions for Sustainable Development Goals

Bangalore, October 27, 2024: The 24-Hour Rapid Innovation Challenge, hosted by CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT), Bangalore, in association with IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group (YP AG) Bangalore Section, successfully concluded on Saturday. Led by Neha Kumari, Chairman of IEEE YP AG Bangalore, and Dr. Nageswara Rao Atyam, Vice Chairman, the event aimed to inspire patentable solutions addressing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Supported by Global IEEE Young Professionals, the initiative attracted 58 teams nationwide, including participants from CMR University, Centurion University, SRM Chennai, and Kumaraguru College of Engineering, Coimbatore etc.


The opening ceremony featured Dr. Asutosh Kedar, Scientist G at DRDO, who emphasized the transformative potential of technology for sustainable impact. Other dignitaries included Dr. Sanjay Jain, Principal, and Dr. B. Narasimha Murthy, Vice Principal of CMRIT. Teams then embarked on a 24-hour journey, creating innovative solutions evaluated for originality, feasibility, alignment with SDGs, and patent potential.


The valedictory ceremony welcomed keynote speaker Dharmendra Kumar, Vice President at Reliance Jio and former scientist at ISRO, who encouraged participants to pursue impactful innovations. Top honors went to Team Tech Innovators for developing an AI-powered job-matching platform addressing SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Runner-up and third place winners, Team Rebel and Team Anon respectively, focused on skill development and educational tools.


The winners received patentability support of Rs. 30,000, Rs. 10,000, and Rs. 5,000, along with mementos and smartwatches. The success of the event reinforced the commitment of CMRIT, IEEE YP AG Bangalore, and Global IEEE Young Professionals to nurture innovation and address today’s pressing global challenges.
