Jalandhar, July 26, 2024: 25h Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated by Vajra Corps with full military honour and traditions. Various commemorative events marked the Celebration of this emphatic victory over a deceitful adversary.
Celebrations began with Indian Army Motorcycle Expeditions from various places riding to Kargil War Memorial, Dras and National War Memorial, New Delhi. The Expedition Teams paid homege to the martyrs en route and interacted with war heroes, Veer Naris and Veer Matas.
Series of educative and commemorative events including lectures, debates, quiz and Painting Competitions were conducted for the children. In a solemn ceremony attended by Veterans and serving soldiers, GoC Vajra Corps paid homage to the fallen heroes. Speaking on the occasion, the GOC reminded of the sacrifices made by the officers and men and reaffirmed commitment to their families. He exhortel all ranks to take inspiration from the stories of their valour and sacrifice and pledge to rededicate ourselves to uphold the highest traditions of the Indian Army and the honour of the tricolour.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26 July every year to commemorate Operation Vijay wherein brave soldiers of the Indian Army overcame near insurmountable odds, hostile terrain, adverse weather and a determined enemy occupying dominating heights, to win the Kargil war.
