2nd blood donation drive
Department of Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh organised its 2nd blood donation drive in collaboration with Thalassemic Charitable Trust PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Chandigarh, November 12, 2024: Department of Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh organised its 2nd blood donation drive in collaboration with Thalassemic Charitable Trust PGIMER, Chandigarh.
It was the trust's 307th blood donation camp. The event was inaugurated by Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Amit Chauhan, Vibha Mittal (Chairperson) and Rajinder Kalra (Member Secretary) Thalassemic Charitable Trust PGIMER with Dr. Jagmahender Sehrawat, Chairperson, Department of Anthropology.
The event was organized by the efforts made by the students with the help of faculty to raise awareness regarding the disease Thalassemia and how the patients require blood transfusion on a fortnightly basis and work for the welfare of humanity; the motto of the discipline of Anthropology.
The event began at 10:30 am and concluded 4:00 pm. The donors included; prominent members from the PUCSC including the president himself along with numerous other students and staff members from across the University. A strict protocol of selecting the donors as per the Thalassemic Charitable Trust PGIMER was followed.
The event was a success with a whopping 145 volunteers out of which 111 donors willingly came forward to donate blood after the medical scrutiny the students participated with enthusiasm and came forward to support this noble cause.
