Chandigarh, September 25, 2014: The 4th edition of the annual flagship event, ArchiBuild, 2014 is being organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Chandigarh-Punjab Chapter jointly on 26, 27, 28 September, 2014.
This national event on architecture is being organised for the fourth time in succession. Over 1000 architects, urban planners, interior designers and students of these professions are likely to attend this three day event.
Dalip Sharma, Director, PHD Chamber shared that the festival has two components: an exhibition on building materials, and technologies “Archibuild 2014” and a conference on “Architecture, Building Materials and Technologies.”  
Delving into the details of the exhibition on architecture, building materials and technologies named “Archibuild 2014”, being held from 26-28 September, 2014 at Himachal Bhawan, Chandigarh, Sharma said, “is a unique and focused event which covers all the aspects of the construction and building industry. It will provide a chance of brand building to exhibitors by showcasing the latest product and services to key professionals & decision makers from all major sectors of the industry”.
Spread over 1000 sq m., there will be more than 50 leading construction and building industries participating herein.
Leading groups like Havells India, Somfy, Tata Tiscon, Godrej Securities, Assa Abloy, Jindal Steel & Power, Lubrisol, etc. are participating in the exhibition.
The exhibitors are showcasing construction equipments and machinery, sanitary wares and fittings, tiles, marbles, stones, ceramics, acoustics, cement and concrete, iron and steel, roofing, paints and coats, chemical adhesives, electrical and electronics, doors and windows, home automation, he said.
A footfall of more than 10,000 is expected over the three days. Apart from visitors from the profession including Architects, Interior Designers, Civil Engineers and Contractors, Builders and Developers, Project Managers, Govt. Authorities, Building Authorities, Building Consultants, Distributors /Agencies of Building Materials, and Construction industry, the masses are also expected to visit in large numbers, said Sharma.
Manmohan Khanna, Chairman, IIA informed that “The Conference aims at providing maximum of opportunities of interaction among industry experts and players, to share the ideas and experience about the latest technology”. ArchiBuild, 2014 will bring together an expert group of exhibitors, skilled industrialists and focused visitors, and let the Indian potential to be highlighted in the global market, he added.
Khanna shared that the conference on “Architecture, Building Materials and Technologies” will be held at Himachal Bhawan in Chandigarh on 27 September, 2014 which will include lectures, slide-shows on various issues concerning the profession of Architecture.
Besides new building material and technologies, architecture and design shall be discussed by eminent architects during the conference. The architects would also analyze the contemporary and vernacular architecture in context of modern requirements.
The main objective of the conference, said Khanna, is to bring architects, planners, engineers, academicians and consultants on a common platform to discuss and deliberate about the emerging concerns arising out of the changing world, besides understanding and analyzing the threats and challenges before modern cities.
Khanna added students from various institutes and schools of architecture are participating in the conference. It would be a great opportunity for youngsters to interact with their senior counterparts. Among others present during the Press Conference were Ar S D Singh, Vice Chairman, IIA Chandigarh (Punjab Chapter), Ar Vikram Malik, Ar Sandeep Rai, Ar C P Kaushal, Ar Pallav Mukherjee, Ar Amit Saini, Ar Shikhar Sharma, Ar Umadhar Kamti and Ar Gagan Chandoke.
