3-week Refresher Course titled “Language and Communication in India”
Chandigarh, February 1, 2019: Department of English and Cultural Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with UGC- HRDC has started three-week Refresher Course titled “Language and Communication in India”, here today. The inaugural ceremony was conducted in the English auditorium. Co-ordinated by Prof. Lovelina Singh, the course will be attended by more than forty- five teachers from all regions of India including few from the local colleges. Prof. Deepti Gupta, Chairperson, Department of English and Cultural Studies and Dr. Jayanti, Deputy Director, Academic Staff College welcomed the participant teachers. Prof. Akshaya Kumar, the inaugural speaker, shared the road map of the refresher course with the participants. While talking on the subject of the Refresher Course he focused on the necessity of an inter-literary approach among the variety of literatures both from vernaculars and the mainstream Indian languages. He also emphasized on the traffic among the Indian languages and language departments in Indian Academic Institutions to be more frequent in mobility and inclusive in approach, keeping aside all sort of cultural politics involved.
