39th AGM and world Standards Day celebrated at IE(I), Ludhiana

Ludhiana, October 27, 2024: The Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana Local Chapter observed the Annual General Meeting of the Ludhiana Local centre today. 

The day coincided with the celebrations of World Standards Day. Lokesh Jain, CEO, T.K.Steels and Chairman, CII, Ludhiana was the Chief guest on the occasion. 

Welcoming the guests, Dr. Arvind Dhingra, Chairman, IE(I), Ludhiana Local centre said that institution was all for promoting the spirit of engineering. A brief introduction about the Institution of Engineers (India) starting from its inception in 1920. He said that institution recognized 17 engineering disciplines. 

The annual report of the Ludhiana local centre was presented by Er. Surinder Singh, Honorary Secretary. He highlighted that the local chapter had done 11 activities besides the regular monthly meetings. He also presented the balance sheet for 2023-24. 

Mehak, student member from Students’ Chapter Institution of Engineers (India) presented a talk on the theme of World Standards Day: shared vision for a better world: incorporating SDG 3. She highlighted the importance of having equitable health care for all to meet the UN SDG 3. 

In his address, Lokesh Jain, Chief Guest said that the gap between academia and industry was increasing and all should work towards bridging the gap. He insisted that academia should work on upgradation of technology. He explained that in present times the life cycle of technology has reduced to just 5 years. He suggested that students should work on industry problems. 

Student members of the students’ chapter, Ex- Chairmen and Honorary Secretaries were honoured on this occasion. Er. Surinder Singh, Honorary Secretary proposed the formal vote of thanks.
