3rd international webinar on information generation, dissemination and use during covid-19 lockdown at PU
Webinar was attended by about 200 attendees
Chandigarh: Third international webinar (and19thwebinar in the series) on the theme ‘Information generation, dissemination and use during covid-19 lockdown’ through cisco webex app was organised yesterday evening by the Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Prof .Preeti Mahajan, chairperson of the department, introduced the aim of the webinar series as continuous professional development by converting the lockdown challenges into opportunities for upgrading various skills required of the LIS profession. Dr. Heather Morrison , Associate Professor, School of Information Studies, University of Ottawa, Canada delivered the talk on “Sustaining the Knowledge Commons”. She highlighted the vision of the global knowledge commons as a collective sharing of all of the knowledge of humankind, free of charge for all to access and as openly accessible as possible, acknowledging the need for some restrictions, for example to protect personal privacy.
Dr. Shiv Kumar delivered the Vote of Thanks. Today’s webinar was attended by about 200 attendees including LIS academicians, Library professionals, LIS researchers and students of Library and Information Science from all India and abroad.
