Music Workshop on Voice Culture being organised at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar on Monday.

Jalandhar, March 24, 2014: A 4-day Music Workshop on Voice Culture has been organised by P.G Department of Music at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar.  The motive of this workshop is to introduce students with the richness of Indian Classical Music. Dr Rajinder Singh Gill, Director, North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala honoured the occasion as the Chief Guest and  Pt Kaivalya Kumar, the renowned Classical Vocalist of Kirana Gharana from Hubli, Karnataka illumined the event as the Resource Person.  

Principal, Dr Sucharita welcomed the esteemed guests and said Apeejay College has always made a fruitful endeavour to promote and preserve the culture and tradition of Indian Arts. She said the workshop on the Voice Culture is another significant step in this regard as it will help students to get acquainted with the deepest and slightest details of the music.

Pt. Kaivalya Kumar inaugurated the workshop with his marvelous performance. Audience was intoxicated to hear him. The workshop will go on for 4 days. On March 25, students of Music (Classical) will give their performance and Pt. Kaivalya Kumar will discuss the various aspects of Ragas with them.

On March 26, students of Classical (Non Percussion) will perform and Pt. Kaivalya Kumar will explain various facets of Kirana Gharana to the students and will discuss with them the details of the different types of Tanas. 

On March 27, the students of Classical (Non Percussion) will perform and Pt. Kaivalya Kumar will interact with the students to acquaint them how to choose Ragas of different categories for specific performances.
