4-Day panel discussion event

Chandigarh, August 30, 2024: University Business School (UBS), under the leadership of Prof. Parmjit Kaur and coordination of Prof. Purva Kansal and Dr. Pooja Soni today inaugurated a 4 day panel discussion event.
Prof. Parmjit Kaur inaugurated the event and welcomed all the esteemed alumni in the panel discussion and remembered the days when not long before the alumni was sitting on the other side of the table and were expecting to be placed in the placement week and encouraging the alumni to participate in the upcoming placement week. Prof. Purva Kansal introduced the theme of the panel which indicated that the main aim of the panel discussion was to bring 56 and more companies to the campus and give students a chance to interact with the alumni in the more informal and open manner. Dr. Pooja Soni also welcomed all the guests and students and indicated that the panel discussion was an opportunity for the students to showcase their true competence.
This event is scheduled from August 30th to September 2nd, 2024 at University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh from 10 a.m-12 p.m. The first day of the event saw two panel discussions i.e. GenZ in the Workforce: Entitled or a Generational divide? and Transitioning from Academia to Industry: Bridging the Gap Between Knowledge and Practice.
First panel moderated by Amit Anand (Infosys) and had presence of Manish Bansal (Wealthverse), Sachit Jain (Emprise HR), Suman Goel (PNB Bank), and Amar Deepika Kashyap (X-Piramal) as panel members. The panelists explored generational dynamics in the workplace. Manish Bansal highlighted the importance of wisdom and conceptual clarity for future prospects. Sachit Jain discussed the generational divide and focused on a note that everything can’t be virtual. Suman Goel praised GenZ as quick learners and decisive, while also being aspirational. The discussion underscored the need for a democratic leadership style and openness to change.
Second panel moderated by. Anu Sehgal Dua (Mass comm.) saw participation from various industry leaders, namely Yogesh Mehta (DLF), Newish Khurpa (Small Finance Bank) Subahyu (Kotak Mahindra) and Kirat Brar (Topan) emphasized essential skills for success. Yogesh Mehta highlighted the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone and mastering communication to build reliable networks. Newish Khurpa stressed the significance of deadlines, commitment, and a willingness to learn. Kirat Brar emphasized being curious, resourceful and approachable. Anu Sehgal advised learning from others' mistakes. The panel underscored the need for management trainees to understand company culture, maintain confidence, and create a strong first impression for long-term success.
The formal discussion was attended by all the students of MBA courses. Bringing together a diverse group of industry leaders, innovators, and thought leaders, the panel discussions aim to provide a rich forum for the exchange of ideas and insights.
