4-day short-term course sponsored by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA)

Chandigarh, August 22, 2023: A 4-day short-term course sponsored by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) on “LEVERAGING SOFT SKILLS IN VUCA WORLD” from August 22nd to 25th 2023 was inaugurated today at the Golden jubilee hall, Panjab University, for pharma students, researchers and faculty across the country.

A total of 51 participants were selected among over 100 applicants for training, hailing from various Colleges/Universities. The course intends to apprise and update the young participants researchers and faculty members on multiple forums of soft skills in the developing world. Professor Anil Kumar, Chairperson, UIPS and Program Coordinator, welcomed the participants and Chief Guest, and briefed them about the achievements of UIPS and UGC-NRC programs. He also summarized about the course content to the participants. Dr Jai malik and Dr Vandita Kakkar the Organizing Secretaries conducted the proceedings of the event.

Professor Harsh Nayyar, Director RDC, Panjab University delivered the Key Note Address on “Soft skill in current job market”. He gave an overview about the dynamic job environment and the need of the hour is continuous learning to become an ever-improving total quality person.

The guest of honour, Professor Rajeev K Puri, RUSA Co-Ordinator, Panjab University shared his words of wisdom. He highlighted the various RUSA grants available in the university. He apprised the participants to find solutions to the challenges in difficult job environment.

The brief overview of the program was summarized by Professor Poonam Piplani, Dean Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She welcomed the gathering to 4-day insightful program which will equip the participant with actionable strategies and techniques that can be seamlessly integrated into daily life. She threw light on the term VUCA and interestingly explained the critical areas of improvement.

Chief guest and guest of honour of the event were felicitated and heartfelt gratitude was extended to each and every member who joined hands to make the event a success. Dr. Jai Malik proposed the vote of thanks to conclude the inaugural session.

The post-tea session covered an informative talk by Professor Ranju Bansal, faculty of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, UIPS Panjab University on “Team building for scientific goals”. Followed by Prof. Suveera Gill, professor of Accounting and Finance at the University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh enlightened the participants on “Judgment and decision-making as a skill”. Post-lunch session included an informative workshop-cum training session by Mr. Hitesh Gulati, Founder Diversity Ace, Business Consulting and Human Capital Transformation and Change Management Consultant on “PCR mindset for enhancing productivity”.

The event was an enriching experience for all and motivated the young minds for the on-going journey towards mastering soft skills.
