4-days PU Annual Athletics Championships for session 2015-16 commences

Chandigarh, November 27, 2015: The four days Panjab University Annual Athletics Championships for the session 2015-16 for Men, Women, Evening & Education Colleges (Men) & Education (B.Ed.) College for Women commenced here today. Mr.Rahul Gupta, PCS, Director Sports, Punjab inaugurated the Championship. In the inaugural ceremony Prof. Arun Kumar Grover, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh also blessed the athletes. 43 teams from Men Section, 42 teams from Women Section , 17 teams from B.Ed. Colleges (Women) & 18 teams from Evening & Education Colleges of the affiliated colleges are participating in this championship.

On the 1^st day of the championship, Husandeep Singh student of DAV College, Chandigarh was declared fastest athlete of Panjab University with a record breaking performance. He broke 33 years old record by clocking 10.41 seconds. The earlier record was in the name of Charanjit Bajwa of the same college who created the record as 10.57 in the session 1981-82.
