Ferozepur: Sleuths belonging to Counter Intelligence Agency (CIA) and BSF have recovered 4 Kg heroin worth Rs. 20 crores in the international market following the information provided by the drug peddler who was nabbed by the police few days ago.
Giving details, Bhupinder Singh SSP said that following the inputs, the sleuths belonging to CIA staff had nabbed the accused identified as Malkeet Singh alias Kala (35), a resident of Village Tendi Wala on January 10 during which 100 grams heroin had been seized from him. SSP said that following the recovery, a case under NDPS Act was registered against the accused at Sadar police station (FIR No. 4 dated 10.01.2021).
“During the preliminary investigation, it came to fore that the accused Malkeet had links with Pakistan based drug smugglers and he was constantly in touch with his cross border drug peddlers with help of social media handles. At least, 13 Pakistani mobile numbers were found in his mobile (Samsung, touch screen). Later, following the information provided by the Malkeet, a joint search operation was carried out with sleuths belonging to 136 Battalion of BSF during which the consignment of 4 kg heroin was recovered near border pillar number 180/M across the fencing along the Indo-Pakistan border”, said SSP.
The SSP said that besides Malkeet, two other accused identified as Sonu alias Geetu, Gurdas Singh were also booked for helping Malkeet in the smuggling. “Both the accused are Malkeet’s nephews who used to help him in the smuggling of drugs. The police has launched a manhunt to nab them”, he further added.
