40 Static compactors for better and effective management of solid waste being constructed in Ludhiana city: Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu

Ludhiana: Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu today informed that for better and effective management of solid waste, 40 static compactors are being constructed in different parts of Ludhiana city. He said that several static compactors have started working, due to which residents of respective areas, have heaved a sigh of relief from menace of stray animals, stink and garbage dumps.
Accompanied by area councillor Pankaj Kaka, Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu today visited the under construction static compactor in Barewal area of the city and issued necessary instructions to the staff.
He assured the residents that soon, Ludhiana would become a garbage free city. He said that for better and effective management of solid waste, static compactors are being installed at 40 different points of the city.
He said that he is committed to making Ludhiana garbage free and urged the residents to assist the Civic body for this social cause. He said that at these static compactors, the solid waste is first segregated into wet and dry waste and then compressed five times so that it can be managed and transported in an effective manner.
