40 Trainees attend training in natural farming at KVK Hoshiarpur
A two-day training on “Natural Farming” was organized under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur campus and village Tutomazara. In this training, 40 trainees participated.

Ludhiana, December 26, 2023: A two-day training on “Natural Farming” was organized under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur campus and village Tutomazara. In this training, 40 trainees participated.
During the first day of the training at KVK Hoshiarpur campus, Dr Parminder Singh, Associate Professor (Animal Science), welcomed the participants and shared various ongoing activities of KVK. He highlighted the importance and scope of natural farming, and the role of dairy animals, especially desi cow in natural farming.
Dr Sukhwinder Singh Aulakh, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science), KVK Hoshiarpur, imparted detailed knowledge on various aspects of natural farming, its principles and components like jeevamrit, beejamrit, acchadhan (mulching) and various plant protection measures like use of agniastra, brahmastra, khatti lassi, etc. He also encouraged the trainees to convert some portion of their land into natural farming.
Expert lectures were also delivered by Gurpratap Singh, Associate Professor (Agronomy), KVK Hoshiarpur, on role and selection of intercrops in natural farming; and Sardar Harjit Singh, Horticulture Development Officer, block Mahilpur; on various cultivation techniques in fruits crops and schemes of Department of Horticulture.
The second day of training imparted hands on training to the farmers in the preparation of jeevamrit, beejamrit and saptdhankur at village Tuto Mazara at the farm of Sukhwinder Singh.
Different progressive farmers from the district, Sardar Surjit Singh, village Chaggran; Sardar Malkit Singh, village Burobari; Sardar Dilbag Singh, village Bhilowal; Sardar Sanjeev Kumar, village Pachnangal; Sardar Hardeep Singh, village Dhakkon; Sardar Avtar Singh, village Khannor and Sardar Baldev Singh, village Bohan; also shared their experiences with the participants.
Later, the participants were provided PAU literature, onion nursery and neem seed oil to boost their interest in natural farming.
