400+ Scientists of 11 Countries participated in LPU’s International Conference ‘RAFAS-2023’
All of these top global researchers & experts in both academia and industry shared their innovative ideas and technologies for important SDG-Goals
Jalandhar: The School of Chemical Engineering and Physical Sciences at Lovely Professional University (LPU) organised a two-day annual international conference “Recent Advances in Fundamental and Applied Sciences (RAFAS)-2023 at the university campus.
More than 400 scientists from 11 countries from across different continents including the USA, UK, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Sultanate of Oman and more participated. On the national level representatives of top institutions including CSIR, IITs, IISc, NITS and more participated. Nearly 1000 oral, poster and interactive presentations were made. All of them were common in saying that basic sciences are an inseparable part of human life for its glowing existence.
On the inaugural day, the Guest of Honour, Chancellor Dr Daniel Heimmermann of the University of South Carolina Aiken (USA) expressed appreciation for LPU being ever proactive and for holding a mammoth conference. He had also wished productive outcomes through conferences for the socio-economic development of global society. On the concluding day he also signed an important MoU with LPU for student and faculty exchange programmes, research works and more.
All of the participating top global researchers & experts in both academia and industry shared their innovative ideas and technologies for achievement of United Nations’ SDG-Goals. Important work was particularly churned out for sixth and seventh goals- “Clean Water & Sanitation and Affordable & Clean Energy”.
Congratulating the organizing team and all participants, LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal conveyed all to be ever updated, and abreast of innovative happenings around in the areas of all types of sciences and technologies.
Participants presented their respective ideas during various keynote, invited, oral and poster sessions. Conference aimed to deliberate on the latest research and new technologies to address local and international scientific challenges. Thousands of LPU students also interacted with visiting think-tanks and deliberated on interesting research themes.
This 4th two-day conference, held in hybrid mode-‘Onsite/Online’, proved to be an excellent platform for top researchers to present and discuss their research with the leaders of different scientific domains. It was also associated with RASĀYAN Journal of Chemistry (SCOPUS Indexed; Q2; SJR: 0.33) and “International Journal of Mathematical, Engineering and Management Science (Q2; SJR: 0.33). Now, selected articles will be published in Scopus/WoS indexed journals for the benefit of the global scientific community.
In fact, LPU has a long history of organising well attended conferences with attendees from international and national institutes of high repute. LPU’s such conferences in 2016, 2019 and 2021 also witnessed more than 400 delegates (individually) from across the globe. The focus of the present conference was multidisciplinary that included various research fields of fundamental and applied sciences- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering.
Some of the keynote speakers included Prof. Byeong-Kyu Lee from University of Ulsan, South Korea; Prof. Meng Nan Chong from Monash University, Malaysia; Prof. Anjan Rey, Director CSIR Laboratories, Indian Institute of Petroleum; Dr. Anuj Mubayi of Illinois State University, USA; 6. Dr. John Richard Pasley, University of York, Heslington, York, United Kingdom; Dr. Ambrish Singh, Southwest Petroleum University, Chengdu, China; Prof. Nand Kishore, IIT Mumbai; and, many other illustrious ones.
