4000 Police and CAPF personnel to keep strict tab over law and order situation on polling day

Nawanshahr, February 19, 2022: In order to ensure free, fair and peaceful assembly elections in the district, around 4000 Police and CAPF personnel would keep a strict vigil on voting day.

Interacting with security men at various points, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanwardeep Kaur said that 614 polling booths including 208 vulnerable booths on 125 locations, one critical polling booth fall under jurisdiction of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

They said that the police would  ensure free and fair polls in the district and each assembly segment would be directly under control of the Superintendent of Police along with the local Deputy Superintendent of Police for maintenance of law and order in the areas and for checking polling locations.  

They said that patrolling parties would patrol the district intensively and Flying Squad Teams and Static Surveillance Teams would keep a close tab on the entire situation.

They said that security has also been beefed up further with installation of high-security nakas which would be supported by gazetted officers each having one reserve force.
