430 Herbal Gardens to Promote Medicinal Plant Awareness in Himachal Pradesh: Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania
Dharamshala, August 23, 2024: Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania announced the establishment of 430 herbal gardens across Himachal Pradesh to educate the public about the medicinal uses of herbal plants. Speaking as the chief guest at the National Ashwagandha Plant Distribution Campaign event held at Government Senior Secondary School Chari in Shahpur Assembly constituency on Friday, Pathania emphasized the significance of the campaign in enhancing public health.
Highlighting the benefits of Ashwagandha, Pathania noted that the medicinal plant, renowned for boosting immunity, has been a cornerstone of traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. As part of the National Ashwagandha Campaign, 2 lakh Ashwagandha plants are being distributed across the state, with 20,000 earmarked for Kangra district alone. Dr. Ashish Rana from the AYUSH Department and District Ayurveda Officer Dr. Harish Bhardwaj provided detailed insights into the campaign.
Pathania also outlined ongoing efforts to improve healthcare and infrastructure in the region. He mentioned that various posts are being filled at Tanda Medical College to enhance medical services. Additionally, Rs 10.3 crore is being invested by the Jal Shakti Department in the Jal Jeevan Mission and other development projects in the area. Furthermore, Rs 25 lakh has been allocated for the Rulla Di Kuhal water project, and Rs 57 lakh has been spent on various development works in Gram Panchayat Chari over the past 18 months. The construction of additional rooms at Senior Secondary School Chari is also underway, with an investment of Rs 18.45 lakh.
Pathania's announcements underscore the government's commitment to improving both public health and infrastructure in the region, aiming to ensure a better quality of life for the residents of Himachal Pradesh.
