4639 Samples for covid-19 taken in Ludhiana district
Recovery rate of covid-19 patients reaches at 88.46%
Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today informed that under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab government, the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured in district Ludhiana is increasing with each passing day. He said that there are 3147 active patients in the district at present.
He said that sincere efforts are being made to keep people safe from Covid-19. He said that a total of 479 patients (425 new patients from district Ludhiana and 54 from other states/districts) have tested positive in the last 24 hours.
He further said that till date, a total of 826104 samples have been taken, out of which a report of 825778 samples have been received, of which 782252 samples were found negative while reports of 326 samples were pending. He said that now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 37614, while 5912 patients belong to other districts/states.
He said that unfortunately, 7 patients lost their lives today (4 from district Ludhiana while one each from districts Sangrur, Barnala and Amritsar). Now, the total number of persons who lost their lives including 1190 people from Ludhiana and 615 from other districts.
He informed that till date, 70265 persons have been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such persons is 5513. Today, 429 persons were sent for home quarantine.
He said that whenever the District Administration and Health Department Ludhiana finds out about any positive or suspected COVID 19 person, their samples are immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 4639 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results are expected shortly.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma appealed to the residents to adhere all the safety protocols like wearing masks, maintaining social distance and washing hands frequently of the Punjab government to not only save themselves but keeping everyone around safe.
