4th National Pharmacovigilance week celebrated

Department of Pharmacology, DMC&H celebrated 4th National Pharmacovigilance week from 17th to 23rd September, with the theme of 'Building ADR reporting Culture' today at the Auditorium of DMC College Campus on the topic "Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety”.

Ludhiana, September 20, 2024: Department of Pharmacology, DMC&H celebrated 4th National Pharmacovigilance week from 17th to 23rd September, with the theme of 'Building ADR reporting Culture' today at the Auditorium of DMC College Campus on the topic "Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety”.

 

The Chief Guest for the event was Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, other who present on the occasion were Principal Dr G S Wander, Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal, faculty members of Department of Pharmacology, and all other teaching departments.

 

In his address, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society congratulated the Department of Pharmacology for conducted this event for the students. He appreciated the students for their creativity.

 

Principal, Dr G S Wander, highlighted the importance of Pharmacovigilance. It is crucial for medical students as it help in clinical practice and aware regarding drugs, emphasizing the need to monitor and report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) to protect patients.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dean Academics and HOD Pharmacology, Dr Sandeep Kushal, highlighted the purpose of celebrating this event and said that it is ethical responsibility of doctors to ensure the well-being of patients by monitoring and reporting any potential harm caused by medicines. Then ensures that safe medicines are available for patient use.

 

The event featured a 'Reel Making' competition by the MBBS batch of 2022, where students participated actively and created interesting and informative reels. MBBS students from the 2023 batch also attended the event.

 

The judges, Dr Puneet Pooni, Dr. Navkiran Mahajan, and Dr. Veenu Gupta were amazed by the creativity, and originality of the students and winning team awarded with the prizes out of 19 reels presented. 5 top reels were awarded.

 

The need for promoting ADR reporting was emphasised.
