5-Days INSPIRE Camp to be organised  by KMV from Nov 8 to 12

Jalandhar, November 7, 2016: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar is going to organise 7th five day INSPIRE Camp from November 8 to 12, 2016. This camp will be attended by 246 students of XI class selected from 19 schools across Punjab. These students are top 1% students of each board. The five-day camp will include lectures, interactions, Physics, Chemistry and Maths workshops, quiz competitions as well as explorations.
Innovation in Scientific Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi is a program launched by the Government of India to inspire students into natural science streams and to strengthen the National Science and Technology base in India. Scheme for Early Attraction of Talent (SEATS) aims to attract talented students and motivate them to study science by providing a Science INSPIRE camp for toppers in Class X Board – 2016 examinations, on condition that they are presently pursuing science in XI standard.
Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, KMV averred that mentors for INSPIRE science camp are Academy Fellows and Scientists of international and national repute. The camp will be a ground for healthy interaction between the mentors and the students through lectures related to scientific success stories and joys of innovation across all streams of science that in turn would stimulate their curiosity and attract them at an early age to pursue a career in science.The students will be given exposure as the invited fellows will interact with the students through lectures and personal interactive sessions during the 5-day INSPIRE Camp.
Some of the mentors are Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Mahajn who is Dean College Development Council, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr. Venu Gopal from Tata Institution of Fundamental Sciences and Research, Mumbai, Dr. Arvind Ranade from Astronomy Division of Department of Sciences and Technology (DST) Govt. of India, Maj. Gen. G.G. Dwivedi, Dr. Yogesh Singh from C-DAC Pune, Dr. Anish Dua from Department of Zoology, GNDU, Amritsar, Prof. A.S. Ahluwalia, Chairperson Dept. of Botany, PU Chandigarh, Prof. Dinesh Khurana, Department of Mathematics, PU Chandigarh, Dr. Gurvinder Singh Sodhi from University of Delhi and Dr. Rajwant Dhami from University of Jammu.
We have lectures on various topics which include Astronomy and Space Science, Nanotechnology, Role of Chemistry in Forensic Science, Smart Materials, Remote Sensing and Communication Satellites, Make in India, History of Mathematical Problems, Role of Bioinformatics, Bio Physics, Science behind earthquakes and among other.
The camp is going to provide an apt platform for healthy interactions among mentors and students. Students will be apprised with many research fields and research facilities available in top Indian scientific institutions.
Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi adumbrated that Dr. R.K. Mahajan, Dean, College Development Council, GNDU, Asr. has kindly consented to grace the Inaugural Session of INSPIRE on November 8th, 2016 as the Chief Guest. Mr Chander Mohan, President Arya Shiksha Mandal will preside over the same, Dr. Sushma Chopra, leading doctor and Dr. Sushma Chawla an acclaimed gynaecologist will be the Guests of Honour for the same.
It is worth a mention here that KMV-The Heritage Institution was the first college in this part of the region to organise the Inspire Camp way back in 2011. This initiative of organising the first INSPIRE Camp has been inspiring for many other educational institutions of the region and has motivated them to follow our lead and organise INSPIRE camps.
