Chandigarh, September 20, 2022: A large 5×6 cm brain tumour was removed successfully via nose at Ivy Hospital, Mohali recently.
Talking to the media during a press conference here on Tuesday
Dr Vineet Saggar, senior consultant and skull base neurosurgeon at Ivy Hospital who performed the procedure informed that a 48 years old patient was presented with visual loss in both eyes from the past one month.
He was also slowly losing consciousness due to the large size of the tumour. The patient was operated via transsphenoidal approach and the whole of the tumour was removed via nose thus annulling the chance of any external scar, said Dr Saggar.
After surgery the patient made full recovery and his vision also improved.
Explaining the whole process, Dr Saggar said that minimally invasive and endoscopic surgeries have improved outcomes in such difficult cases these days.
Dr Saggar has done more than 200 such procedures at Ivy hospital in the past 10 years.
