5th academic council meeting accomplished online at KMV
Erudite scholars and academicians grace the meeting
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organized the 5th meeting of Academic council online via Zoom. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal KMV and was graced by acclaimed luminaries as members. Ms Renu Bharadwaj, Department of Botanical & Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr Hardeep Singh Gujral, Department of Food Science & Technology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr Bikramjit Singh Hundal, Department of University Business School, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr Nikhil Kumar, Education Officer, University Grants Commission, New Delhi, Dr Karamjit Singh, Professor, University Business School, Punjab University, Chandigarh, Dr Jagrup Singh Sekhon, Professor (Retd.), Department of Political Science Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr N.S. Tung, Professor (Retd.), Department of Psychology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar along with the Deans and Heads of Departments of KMV provided their valuable inputs as members of Academic Council. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal KMV apprised the erudite academicians that new policies have been made to deal with examination and research in order to acquire excellence in teaching and evaluation. The progress of the college under the autonomy was appreciated by the Academic Council members. This was followed by exhaustive discussions for the implementation of new programs for students, including the evening classes for boys, girls and industry professionals in programs such as Diploma in 2D Animation, Diploma in Retail Management, Advanced Diploma in Filmmaking and Acting, to allow students to choose Banking as an Additional/Optional course for BA & various examination reforms have been proposed that are required in conduct of makeup tests/retests of end semester examinations. Moreover, discussion on the approval of policy related to Intermediate and final semester exams due to COVID-19 Pandemic was also done in which it was proposed that the students of intermediate semesters should be promoted to the next level and policy regarding their promotion will be jointly prepared by the Planning & Evaluation as well as the Examination committee chaired by the Principal Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi & to authorize the chairperson of the Academic Council i.e Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya to take decision related to conducting of the final semester (except VIth Semester) examination or declaration of result as per COVID-19 situation unfolding in coming weeks. The policy regarding the promotion/examination will be intimated to the Academic Council members through email & Chairperson may be authorized to take decision related to any other issue that may emerge related to examination and evaluation. All the members endorsed that the up-gradation of syllabi of all the courses and other reforms which had been done by the college after considerable deliberations is very beneficial for the students as college has provided updated syllabus matching the global standards.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that these reforms which meet global standards will help students gain an edge and get assimilated in global education system. Madam Principal appreciated the efforts of Dr. Gopi Sharma, Incharge, Autonomy, Mrs Parminder Kaur, Coordinator, IQAC & all the members of the Academic Council of the college.
