5th governing body meeting at KMV under autonomous status
Student friendly admission and examination decisions taken
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organized the fifth Governing Body meeting to ensure excellence in education. The meeting was chaired by Sh. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal and was graced by acclaimed luminaries such as Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, KMV as Member Secretary, Shri Alok Sondhi, General Secretary, KMV Managing Committee, Dr. Sushma Chawla, Vice President, KMV Managing Committee, Dr. Sushma Chopra, Secretary, KMV Managing Committee, Sh. Dhruv Mittal, Joint Treasurer, KMV Managing Committee, Sh. Suresh Seth, Member, KMV Managing Committee, Dr Bhushan Kumar Sharma, Former Principal, GGDSD College, Chandigarh as University Nominee, Prof. Dr. Geeta Hundal, CAS, Department of Chemistry as UGC Nominee and Mrs Indu Malhotra, IAS, DPI(Colleges), Department of Higher Education, Chandigarh.
During the meeting, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi expressed her gratitude to the esteemed guests for their valuable presence and contribution. She also apprised them about the successful completion of two years of autonomy. She averred that during the challenging scenario posed by the pandemic the students were made to have full advantage of the online classes much to their satisfaction. The external members were also very appreciative of the Social Outreach Programs carried by KMV under the title #KMVKares. During the meeting, the Governing Body members took some student friendly decisions pertaining to examination & admissions. It was decided that under the present situation when COVID-19 is posing a serious threat to everyone’s health, the students of intermediary classes will be promoted to the next semester on the basis of internal assessment and performance in the previous examination. This decision has come as a great relief to the students. Another student friendly decision was to give admission in PG courses to the students who had received a compartment in a subject in UG class on a condition that the student will not be given admission in the subject of the compartment. Yet another decision that has provided a great amount of relief to the students is that there will be no fee hike in the coming semester. Many other policies which were for the benefit of the students were also implemented at this juncture. The external members were very much appreciative of Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, KMV for ceaselessly endeavoring to elevate the standard of higher education by introducing academic and educational reforms under autonomy. KMV has indeed entered into the league of higher colleges by designing new courses and also upgrading all syllabi to meet international professional standards and to provide skill oriented education.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi maintained that this meeting will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of education and research in KMV. The house appreciated all the reforms carried out under autonomous system especially the usage of digital technology implemented by KMV for teaching & learning in the days of lockdown.
