Ludhiana, February 20, 2013. Ludhiana Management Association (LMA) and PCTE Group of Institutes are organising 5th season of Dr. D R Singh Memorial British Parliamentary Debate on February 21 and 22.The season has reached a new level this year with 2 teams from Iqra University, Pakistan participating.
Alongwith that, more than 32 teams from all over the country would be fighting the battle for glory. Leading National teams like FMS Delhi, FMS BHU, NLSIU Bangalore, RMNLU Lucknow, ICFAI, Dehradun, CNLU Patna, Jamia Milia Islamia Delhi, EDII, Ahemdabad and many more are competing in the event. “Dr. D R Singh Memorial British Parliamentary Debate” has been a platform for brilliant young minds to cross swords with their counter parts, foster healthy contentions and learn to appreciate diverse flow of ideas and opinions.
British Parliamentary Debate gives one ample opportunity as a debater to gain wide perspectives, use a large knowledge base, and be able to debate from multiple perspectives.The British Pattern of debating is followed all over the world from Australia to America and is typically carried out in the pattern of British, and most commonwealth countries, including in the Indian Parliament House, explained Harpreet K Kang, Chairman, Student’s Forum, LMA and Dean, PCTE Group of Institutes.
She informed that PCTE will hold an orientation session on February 21 at 2 pm at campus 2, and followed by Knock out round, and preliminaries, then quarter, and semi finals on February 22 morning and afternoon. The finals will be held at Park Plaza on February 22 evening.
The current season of British parliamentary debate has been sponsored by Eastman Cast and Forge Limited, Ludhiana and M/s. Haveli Ram Bansi Lal, Ludhiana. It is amongst the most prestigious and the most challenging debate tournament in the region, with the cash prize worth Rs. 1 lakh to the winning team and total cash prizes of Rs. 1,50,000 to be given to away to winners, explained Kang.
The fervour and enthusiasm is at its peak as the D-Day is approaching.
