Jalandhar, July 17, 2015: 65th Senior State Basketball (Men/Women) Championship inaugurated at Lovely Professional University (LPU) today. Additional Director General of Punjab Police Mr Sanjiv Kalra inaugurated the championship by hoisting the sports flag and declaring the championship open. Mr Kalra also inspected the colourful march past by participating team members. LPU is hosting four-day Basketball Championship 2014-15 at its Campus Basketball Courts. Jalandhar District Basketball Association is organizing all matches from 17th to 20th July 2015 in both morning & evening hours. Addressing the players, ADGP Kalra asked them to prove their worth by observing the true sportsmanship throughout the championship. Lovely Group Chairman Sh Ramesh Mittal also blessed the state players to bring laurels to the state and the country.
Expecting great record results from the championship, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal informed: “Our University always takes wholehearted interest in developing the young talent. Only a day back, we came forward to support the cash prizes awarding ceremony organized by Punjab Government at LPU campus to honour talented sports persons of the state. This hosting is on the same pattern as large number of participants and spectators gain didactic and motivating messages from such organizations. We also award 100 percent scholarship to national and international medal winners so that they may be excellent in academics as well.”
