66 Patwaris visit PAU to learn paddy residue management technologies
Addressing the stubble burning issue as the top priority, the Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), familiarized as many as 66 Patwaris from different districts of Punjab with the crop residue management agricultural machinery.
Ludhiana, September 4, 2024: Addressing the stubble burning issue as the top priority, the Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), familiarized as many as 66 Patwaris from different districts of Punjab with the crop residue management agricultural machinery.
While welcoming and coordinating the visit of the Patwaris to the Research Hall of the farm machinery, Dr Mahesh Kumar Narang, Head of the Department, said that the department was organizing extensive training programmes on paddy straw management techniques during the current season for the state government functionaries. Further, he imparted practical knowledge about various in-situ and ex-situ straw management technologies such as Happy Seeder, Smart Seeder, Super Seeder, Straw Chopper-cum-Spreader, Incorporation, Surface Seeder, Baling, etc. He also motivated the trainees to create awareness among farmers regarding paddy residue management. All the participants showed keen interest in the visit and interactive sessions on field problems.
Dr Harwinder Kaur, ADO (Dehlon), and Dr Ritu Bhangoo, ADO (Jagraon), accompanied the participants and proposed a vote of thanks. This training will be helpful for the Patwaris in the coming harvesting season, they said.
