67th Annual Athletics Meet of Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar, March 26, 2019: The 67th Annual Athletics Meet of Lyallpur Khalsa College was conducted in the college stadium with full enthusiasm and vigor. Arjuna Awardee Mr.Surinder Singh Sodhi, Former Olympian and Retd SSP, was the chief guest. He was welcomed to the college by Principal Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra President of the College Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur also expressed her best wishes for the enthusiastic participants.
Dr.Jaspal Singh, Head of the Department of Physical Education read out the progress report of the department and informed about the wide ranging achievements of the department. The athletics meet of the department saw an active participation of 7 groups from the college namely, Arts, Science, Commerce, Physiotherapy, Computers, Sports and MA Group.
The overall trophy was bagged by the Computer Science group followed by the Arts Group on the runners up spot. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Mr. Surinder Singh Sodhi urged the budding sportsmen to work hard in their respective sports to the benefit of the college and the nation as well. He also discussed the potential of sports as a prospective modern day career option.
Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra informed the audience about the immense list of accomplishments put forth by Mr. Sodhi over the years. Vote of thanks was put forth by Dr. Simranjit Singh Bains, Dean, Sports. Stage was managed by Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar and Prof. Harpreet Kaur.
