Nawanshahr, March 9, 2022: The Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar police have deployed 681 police and CAPF personnel to provide tight security for the counting of votes on Thursday.

Reviewing the arrangements, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanwardeep Kaur said that a three-tier security blanket has already been in place at three of the counting centres in Banga, Nawanshahr and Balachaur assembly segments. Kaur said three Superintendents of Police (SPs), nine Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and 33 inspectors along with entire force would supervise the entire security cover at the ground and they would keep tight vigil on the counting operations.

SSP told that those coming to the counting centre such as candidates, agents and media persons would have to park their vehicles in the identified parking yards and police would not allow any kind of crowding. She added that unauthorised vehicles and individuals would be kept away from these heavily guarded centres.

She said that no one including candidates, agents or officials would be allowed to carry mobile or electronic gadgets to the counting centres. Kaur said that those who carry the identification card issued by the District Election Officer (District Collector) and Election Commission of India will only be permitted to the counting centre. SSP said that apart from this, CCTV cameras have been placed inside and outside each of the counting centres.

Kaur told that first, the postal ballot counting would be initiated at 8 am following which the EVMs counting would begin.
