PU's Department of Biochemistry started the 6th International Conference on Nutraceuticals and Chronic Diseases 2024 (INCD) on Thursday at Golden Jubilee Hall. Organising secretary Professor Navneet Agnihotri apprised the audience about INCD.

The chief guest was from NIPER, Mohali, Professor Dulal Panda, who shared about works in cancer research, diseases like Dementia and Alzheimer, dynamic instability in microtubules of neurons and chalcones.
Professor Oommen V Oommen from University of Kerala, famous for Western Ghats farmers' rescue, shared about Agro biodiversity, tuber diversity and fruit diversity. He also briefed about Society for Nutraceuticals and Chronic Disease.
Under the session titled 'Spice in Life: Nutraceuticals', Professor Bhimanagouda Patil fromTexas A&M University,
Houston, US, shared about utrul bioactive for cancer prevention, bio transformation of citrus flavonoids and their benefits on gut health.ProfessorTej Pandita from the same university, talked about impact of Namog depletion on DNA damage response in stem cells.
The event featured sessions on nutraceuticals solutions for lifestyle disorders, therapeutics and epigenetics. The day culminated with a cultural programme showcasing the dance forms of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
