6th Mayank Sharma Memorial Punjab Open Badminton Championship concludes successfully
The three-day 6th Mayank Sharma Memorial Punjab Open Badminton Championship organized by Mayank Foundation concluded with great enthusiasm. It is pertinent to mention here that more than 500 players from different states exhibited their skills in this prestigious championship and won gold and silver medals.
Ferozepur, December 28, 2023: The three-day 6th Mayank Sharma Memorial Punjab Open Badminton Championship organized by Mayank Foundation concluded with great enthusiasm. It is pertinent to mention here that more than 500 players from different states exhibited their skills in this prestigious championship and won gold and silver medals.
More than 500 badminton players from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and other states exhibited their skills in this prestigious championship which was organized at Rai Bahadur Vishnu Bhagwan Auditorium of Dass & Brown World School in Ferozepur.
While divulging more details, Secretary Rakesh Sharma said that during the three days of this championship organized under the leadership of MF President Dr. Anirudh Gupta several dignitaries including MLA (Ferozepur Rural) Rajneesh Dahiya, Army officer Vikram Chandel, industrialist Sameer Mittal, Treasurer of Punjab Badminton Association and Uttam Hindu newspaper editor Ritin Khanna, K.G. Managing Director of Exports Ashish Dua, Punjab Badminton Association Secretary Anupam Kumriya, Red Cross Ferozepur Secretary Ashok Bahl, actor Sonu Sood's sister social worker Malvika Sood, MLA Rajneesh Dahiya, Wings Global Immigration CEO Amit Arora, Harmony Ayurvedic Medical College CEO Chairman Dharampal Bansal, City Council President Rinku Grover, Provincial Vice President of BJP Yuva Morcha Abhishek Dhawan, District Badminton Association President Manoj Gupta, Secretary Vinay Vohra, Deputy DEO Pargat Brar graced the occasion as special guests.
Project Coordinator Ashwani Sharma said that in Under-13 (Girls) category, Joel Rana of Hisar Haryana won the gold medal and Avni Makhloga won the silver medal. Joel Rana won the Gold medal in U-15 category also while Riddhima Saini of Chandigarh won the silver medal. In Under-17 (Girls) category, Samriddhi Bhardwaj of Jalandhar won the gold medal and Asispreet Kaur, a student of Das and Brown World School, Firozpur, won the silver medal.
Sharma told that in Under-13 (Boys), Abhimanyu Singh won the gold medal and Aryan Makkar won the silver medal. In Under-15 (Boys), Gagan Yadav won gold and Satavan Jain won silver medal, in Under-17 (Boys) category, Samarth Bhardwaj of Jalandhar won gold and Vaibhav Giri won silver medal. The winning players were honored by the Foundation with cash prizes as well as trophies and medals.
President Mayank Foundation Dr. Anirudh Gupta said that every year this badminton championship is organized by Mayank Foundation in the memory of Mayank Sharma, who himself was a budding Badminton player. He said that the Foundation runs various projects from time to time at the national level including painting competition, scholarship to girl students, free education classes, traffic awareness etc.
Reetin Khanna, Treasurer of Punjab Badminton Association, said that all the members of Mayank Foundation deserve congratulations for the zeal and enthusiasm with which the Foundation conducts this championship every year while maintaining discipline. He said that such championships instill enthusiasm in the players and create a feeling of moving forward in them.
The members of Mayank Foundation Dr. Ghazalpreet Singh, Sandeep Sehgal, Deepak Grover, Kamal Sharma, Vipul Narang, Rakesh Monga, Jaswant Saini, Amit Arora, Principal Rajesh Mehta, Principal Sanjeev Tandon, Vikas Gumbar, Deepak Mathpal, Shivam were instrumental in making this competition successful.
