70 attend free orthopedics, urology camp at Manimajra

Chandigarh, December 23, 2018: As many as 70 people attended a free orthopedics and urology camp at Singh Sabha Mariwala Town, Manimajra today. The camp was organised by Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula.

During camp free consultation was provided by Dr Dalvir Chauhan and Dr Rajiv Goyal, senior consultant-Orthopedics and senior consultant-Urology at Alchesit Hospital respectively. During camp the free blood sugar tests were also provided.

Addressing people during occasion, Dr Dalvir said that bones are strong in young age but after 30-yr one start losing bone density. This happens to everyone, but some people develop osteoporosis and lose bone density much faster than normal. This means they're at greater risk of a fracture.”

He said further that knee joints problems are higher in women as compared to men because the hormone changes that occur in the menopause directly affect bone density.

Dr Rajiv Goyal said that people with the problems such as kidney stones, prostate related problems and other urinary problems were screened in the camp. He said that it was observed stones are more common in males as compared to females.

He said further , stone in the urinary tract is the most common problem for which a patient consults urologist. Even more dangerous ones are silent stones which grow in the kidney to a big size thus almost occupying whole of the kidney without causing much discomfort.
