70 senior citizens attended talk on urinary incontinence

Chandigarh, August 18, 2019: As many as 70 senior citizens attended a health talk on urinary incontinence at Community Center, Sector 15 on Sunday. The talk was organized by Shalby Hospital, Mohali in association of Senior Citizen Association , Chandigarh.

Speaking during talk , Dr. MS Randhawa , consultant urologist said that as you get older, you are more likely to suffer from kidney and urinary tract problems.

He said , urinary incontinence is more common in older people, especially women. Some conditions that affect the kidneys and urinary tract are more common as people get older. You are more at risk of developing kidney disease if you are over 60-yr of age, have diabetes, obese, having high blood pressure, heart problem or a family history of kidney failure, asserted Dr Randhawa.

As you get older, the bladder changes. The elastic bladder tissue may toughen and become less stretchy. A less stretchy bladder cannot hold as much urine as before and might make you go to the bathroom more often. The bladder wall and pelvic floor muscles may weaken, making it harder to empty the bladder fully and causing urine to leak, he informed.

During occasion, Shalby privilege cards were also distributed among senior citizens .

Among others, Jarnail Singh Sidhu, and Virendra Sharma , president and executive member of association respectively and Brijesh Singh Bisht, DGM were also presented.
