71st Athletic Meet at Guru Hargobind Khalsa College Gurusar Sadhar showcases sports excellence
The Guru Hargobind Khalsa Colleges (comprising Degree College, Pharmacy College, and Education College), Gurusar Sadhar celebrated its 71st Annual Athletic Meet on February 20, 2024, with grandeur. Esteemed guests, including SDM Raikot Beant Singh Sidhu and Varsha Rana from Ghuman Group of Education, USA, were present as chief guests.
Ludhiana, February 21, 2024: The Guru Hargobind Khalsa Colleges (comprising Degree College, Pharmacy College, and Education College), Gurusar Sadhar celebrated its 71st Annual Athletic Meet on February 20, 2024, with grandeur. Esteemed guests, including SDM Raikot Beant Singh Sidhu and Varsha Rana from Ghuman Group of Education, USA, were present as chief guests.
Captain Surjit Singh Gill served as the special guest, adding to the grace of the event. Upon arrival, the President of the College Governing Council, Manjit Singh Gill, Secretary Dr. S.S. Thind, and Principals of all three colleges, along with the entire staff, extended a warm welcome.
Chief guest Beant Singh Sidhu commended the college for its outstanding sports facilities, urging athletes to leverage these resources for greater achievements.
Varsha Rana emphasized the importance of resilience in victories and defeats, applauding the college's efforts in addressing social issues through their education donation program. In a significant announcement, it was revealed that Ghuman Group would sponsor students from five villages in Gurdaspur district, providing stipends for their education at Guru Hargobind Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar.
The event commenced with a spectacular march-past featuring athletes from all three colleges, NSS volunteers, and NCC cadets.
College Governing Council Secretary Dr. S.S. Thind saluted the march-past from the stage, and the athletic meet was officially inaugurated by the chief guest.
College Principal Prof. Inderjit Singh welcomed the guests, presenting the annual report of all three colleges, showcasing academic and cultural achievements, and highlighting medals won by the colleges' athletes at various levels.
On this occasion, Education College Principal Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha expressed gratitude to everyone. Distinguished guests, Guru Hargobind Khalsa College employees, and renowned elderly runner Ranjit Singh were specially honored.
During the athletics meet, students from MIER College of Education, Jammu and Kashmir, participated in the student exchange program, showcasing their talent in various events, including a special Dogri dance performance. These participants will continue to be part of Sadhar College in the coming years under this program. The athletic competitions, featuring events such as 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and long jump, showcased the remarkable talent of the participants.
Winners were awarded medals and certificates by the College Governing Council. Dr. Satwinder Kaur, Principal College of Pharmacy, Avatar Singh, Inderjit Singh, Jagjit Singh Brar, Harjinder Singh Brar, Charnjit Singh Gill, Bhagwan Singh, Dr. Sarabjit Kaur, Prof. Manpreet Kaur, Prof. Harmeet Singh, Prof. Karanveer Singh, and others were present. Stage management was efficiently handled by Dr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Dr. Mini Sharma, and Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Gulati. Harmandeep Kaur, Prasanjit Singh, and Aryan Saini from Degree College, along with Harshit Tiwari and Rashmi Mishra from Pharmacy College, and Hartej Singh and Sandeep Kaur from Education College, have been recognized as the Best Athletes. Similarly, Avtar Singh and Sangeeta have been declared the Best Athletes from Khalsa Collegiate Public Senior Secondary School, Gurusar Sadhar.
