7th International Medical Olympiad Conference concludes at Panjab University 

The 7th International Medical Olympiad Conference (IMOA) concluded at Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh today. The conference was hosted by the Centre for Nuclear Medicine on the theme of "Global Health: Emerging Trends and Future Challenges".

Chandigarh, November 18, 2024: The 7th International Medical Olympiad Conference (IMOA) concluded at Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh today. The conference was hosted by the Centre for Nuclear Medicine on the theme of "Global Health: Emerging Trends and Future Challenges". 

The conference was significant as it was the first time that IMOA was held outside Greece under the auspices of International Medical Olympicus Association, wherein delegates from various countries across the globe viz: United States, Greece, Japan, Serbia and Oman, participated. 

On the first day, the inauguration was graced by the PU Vice Chancellor, Prof Renu Vig and Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar, Panjab University, whose presence underscored the institution's commitment to advancing medical research and education. 

The Central University of Kashmir Vice Chancellor, Professor A Ravinder Nath was the Chief Guest and Director, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC), Punjab, Prof Ashish Gulia delivered the keynote address during the inaugural program. 

As many as 170 researchers, academicians and clinicians participated from various parts of the county and from abroad, representing a wide array of specializations, institutions, and perspectives to discuss pivotal advancements and challenges in healthcare. The event featured invited talks by eminent speakers, oral and poster presentations, fostering rich academic discussions for two days followed by an excursion to the city beautiful on the third day. 

“This conference was not limited to scientific advancements but also served as a platform for collaborations and fostering connections” said Dr. Vijayta D. Chadha, the Organizing Secretary and Chairperson of the Centre for Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Suresh Sharma, President IMOA encouraged the participants to engage in meaningful discussions that can inspire new solutions and promote equity across the world.
