Department of Physics organised the 7th Prof. B. M. Anand Memorial lecture today. The lecture was delivered by Dr. S. M. Yusuf, a renowned physicist and Director of Physics Group, BARC, Mumbai and Professor at Homi Bhabha National Institute.

Chandigarh, July 21, 2023: Department of Physics organised the 7th Prof. B. M. Anand Memorial lecture today. The lecture was delivered by Dr. S. M. Yusuf, a renowned physicist and Director of Physics Group, BARC, Mumbai and Professor at Homi Bhabha National Institute.
Prof. Yusuf talked about Entanglement of Quantum States and its role in Quantum Computing. Government of India has decided to spend Rs.6000 Cr on the Quantum Computing Mission recently.
Along with the memorial lecture, a book entitled "Bal Mokand Anand: His Life and Science across the partition of India" written by Dr. Rajinder Singh, a Science Historian based in Germany, was also released.
The book was released by Prof. K. N. Pathak (Ex-VC PU), Prof. Satya Prakash (Ex-VC, JU, Gwalior), Prof. A. K. Grover (Ex-VC, PU), Prof. Harsh Nayyar (Director R&D, PU) and Prof. R.K. Puri (Chairperson of the department).
Students and scholars showed immense interest in the topic of the lecture and were highly motivated to work in this new emerging field.
The event was live webcast and also shared live on YouTube with the help of PU Computer Centre.
