81st Annual Sports Meet held in Doaba College
Doaba College Jalandhar organized 81st Annual Sports Meet with full zeal and excitement. The Chief Guest, Chander Mohan, President, Doaba College Managing Committee and Arya Shiksha Mandal, was accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Organizing Secretaries, faculty members and students.
Jalandhar, February 10, 2024: Doaba College Jalandhar organized 81st Annual Sports Meet with full zeal and excitement. The Chief Guest, Chander Mohan, President, Doaba College Managing Committee and Arya Shiksha Mandal, was accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Organizing Secretaries, faculty members and students.
The meet was inaugurated by the dignitaries with the hoisting of the flag. The Chief Guest took salute of the spectacular March Past by NCC Cadets, Sports, NSS and students of various departments of the College and Collegiate School.
The exuberance of the students reverberated in resounding cheers across the campus at the arrival of the torch carried by the athletes, and after its lighting, they took an oath in spirit of fair play.
Principal, Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, addressing the gathering, welcomed the Chief Guest and expressed his gratitude to him to bless the occasion with his gracious presence. He explained the relevance of dedication of this Sports Meet to Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati. He also motivated the students to channelize their energy through sports to excel in life.
In his Presidential address, Chander Mohan, emphasized the importance of sports in life and encouraged the faculty and students to inculcate the habit of physical exercise in their daily routine. He mentioned Rajesh Pilot, Neeraj Chopra and others to explain how world is progressing in sports and opening various avenues for the young generation. "You have to compete not only with the competitor but with yourself too, said the Chief Guest. He declared the meet open by releasing the tri-coloured balloons in the sky.
The students from all departments participated in various events in the categories for players and non-players, namely, 400 m Race, Three-legged Race, Needle and Thread Race, Shot-put, 100 m Race, Long Jump, 200 m Race, 50 m Race, 800 m Race, Sack Race, 4*100 m Relay Race. The event also witnessed an array of games for faculty like Spoon and Marble Race, Three-legged Race and Tug of War.
The event concluded with the Prize Distribution ceremony followed by a cultural program and Lucky Draw.
