8th National Facilities Managers Summit-2022 held

Hyderabad, April 21, 2022: The 8th National Facilities Managers (MF) Summit 2022 was held on Friday at Anvaya Conventions in Financial District at Gachibowli. It was organised after a gap of two years.

Amarnath Reddy Atmakuri Chief Relations Officer, ITE&C Department, Govt of Telangana delivering a keynote address said the IT sector is booming. We have seen huge growth year after year. This year though performance statistics are yet to be published, we are confident of good growth. The IT employers in the year when Telangana state formed had 3 lakh employees working, and now it has crossed 7 lakhs. Some of the world's top 30 brands have their presence. I understand that 10 to 15 % of IT employees are back in the office. We are already witnessing Traffic congestion. Imagine when 100% IT employees are back in offices, the traffic congestion levels will be. Hence he suggested TFMC work on promoting public transportation, carpooling, smart transport systems and alternative transportation modes.

Mr Murali Varadarajan and Saurabh from L & T Metro gave a presentation on last-mile connectivity. 7% of our daily time I.e 2hours of 24 hours in the day is spent on the roads. If the Traffic continues to increase, the average speed of vehicular movement will come down to 9 km per hour. In our city it is 21 km, they said. They also added that currently 2.5 lakh commuters use the metro every day which is likely to go up to 4 lakh by the end of this year.

The 8th edition National FM Summit 2022 was planned in the backdrop of the debate on the future of the work of IT employees. Future of their work, will it be work from the home, office, or hybrid? It is the facilities management professionals who ensure the safety of the workforce.

The Panelists observed that by July 2022, more than 50% IT Workforce is likely to be back in offices

The summit focused on future technology, AI Practices which every Facility Manager will use in the next 10 years said Satyanarayana Mathala, President of 400 members strong body that supervises the smooth functioning of IT Offices

The 20 add FM professionals walked on the ramp wearing handloom clothes. The Handloom Ramp Walk was organised to promote “HANDLOOM MONDAY '', an initiative to promote Handlooms and support the Weavers community by wearing Handloom Clothes every Monday. Handloom Monday was a call given by Mr K.T. Rama Rao, Minister for IT, Govt of Telangana.

As part of this drive, TFMC has been organising Handloom Melas from time to time.

Work From Home, Office, Village or Work From Anywhere, but wear ‘Handlooms Every Monday’ tells Telangana Facilities Management Council to all the IT employees.

TFMC has been organising Handloom Melas, Cycle Rallies, Fashion Shows to create awareness and promote Handloom Clothes. Their sustained efforts clocked a sale of Rs 3.2 crore worth of Handloom Clothes, and 18 handloom melas are organized so far, registering a footfall of 2.8 lakh IT professionals.

The day-long summit had panel discussions, round table conferences, and talks on a wide variety of subjects of interest to their profession.

Some of the subjects include Sustainable Development – Road Ahead Post Pandemic By Eminent; FM Interaction with Future FM’s - with Upcoming FM’s; Business EnabLers-An Interactive session-Dr. Badram -Actor & Ergonomist – “ONE THING WE CAN CHANGE “ and A session on last-mile connectivity;.

An interactive session on the Minimum Wages Regulations Act with Dy. Commissioner of Labour, Mr Chandrashekar held.
