9th Inter College Youth Festival gets underway at UHF Nauni
A three-day Inter College Youth Festival got underway today at the Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni. The youth festival is aimed at the overall development of students through different competitions. Around 350 students from the four constituent colleges of the University- College of Horticulture (COH) and College of Forestry(COF) from the main campus at Nauni, and the Colleges of Horticulture and Forestry (COH&F) at Neri and Thunag are taking part in the Youth Festival.

While inaugurating the event Prof Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice-Chancellor stressed the importance of extracurricular activities in shaping the personality of students. Prof. Chandel said that the extra-curricular activities were an integral part of the university curriculum and the youth festival was a platform to develop hobbies which are necessary for success in life. He urged the participants to showcase their diverse talent through the various events during the youth festival and urged them to uphold the sportsman spirit in all competitions.
Earlier in his address, the contingents from all the colleges took part in the march past after which an oath was administered by Tania Jasrotia, a university student who won two awards in the Inter-university Agri Fest. Dr. Rajesh Bhalla, Dean Students’ Welfare informed that the youth festival will have individual and group events in the fine arts, literary, theatre, dance and music categories. On Tuesday, spot painting, collage and poster making and Rangoli-making events were held in the fine arts category. In literary events, elocution, debate and extempore competitions were held. Based on the total points gained by different colleges in various events, the overall winner will be decided.
