A Legacy of Excellence: 54th Annual Convocation cum Prize Distribution Ceremony 

Chandigarh, April 30, 2024: In a vibrant celebration of academic achievement and exemplary performance, Home Science College hosted its 54th Annual Convocation cum Prize Distribution Ceremony on Tuesday with great zeal and enthusiasm. 

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean College Development Council and Honorary Director of ICSSR-North Western Regional Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh. 

This esteemed event served as a beacon of academic excellence, acknowledging the remarkable achievements of the students in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities throughout the past year. 

The event commenced with the comprehensive Annual Report presented by Prof. Sudha Katyal (Principal), encapsulating the academic achievements, milestones and strategic initiatives undertaken during the last academic year in the college. She also highlighted that, in sync with UN Sustainable Agenda 2030, college is committed to fostering a culture of sustainability on campus through initiatives such as energy conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable transportation options. From academic excellence, campus placements, startup ventures to community engagement, the report showcased the collective efforts of the faculty, staff, and students in fostering a culture of growth and innovation. Afterwards, the event proceeded with formal conferral of degrees to the graduating students, signifying their readiness to enter the professional world. 

The highlight of the ceremony was the felicitation of exemplary students, whose outstanding achievements across various disciplines were recognized and celebrated. From academic brilliance, exemplary leadership to innovative entrepreneurial ventures and startups, each award bestowed reflected the exceptional caliber and commitment of the recipients. Furthermore, to nurture the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the campus, the college has made consistent efforts to motivate the students to start their own business and startup ventures. In this direction, every year college bestows Sinder Kukar Best Entrepreneur Award to the deserving candidate. This year, Nimran (M.Sc. Home Science, Department of Human Development) was felicitated with the Best entrepreneur Award of the Year for her startup GoldenAshet wherein she makes exclusive Grazing Table and Charcuterie boards. In the similar vein, All Round Best Student of the year was given to Isha Kaushal (B.Sc. Fashion Designing) for her exceptional achievements in both academic and co-curricular activities. 

The chief guest of the event, Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, congratulated all the students for their academic accomplishments and strongly advocated that in today's interconnected and rapidly changing world, the skills and qualities you have developed during your academic journey will be more important than ever. He also advised them to embrace diversity, foster inclusivity, and strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others, no matter where your journey may take you. 

The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Sudha Katyal (Principal). She extended her sincerest appreciation to all attendees for their unwavering support and participation in making the Annual Convocation and Prize Distribution Ceremony a resounding success. She also emphasized that this momentous occasion reaffirms our commitment to fostering a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and lifelong learning.
