Hyderabad, September 2, 2023: Logistics is the most labor-intensive sector. A lot of impetus is given to manufacturing but, Logistics is underplayed, she said Aparna Bhumi, Director of Logistics, Govt of Telangana.
 
She was the chief guest at the inauguration of a ten-day certificate course in Global Logistics & Supply Chain Management, at FTCCI at Federation House at Red Hills on Saturday.  It is being organized once a week on Saturdays for the next ten weeks.  About 30 participants are participating in the same
 
Speaking further Aparna said Logistics remains a dark night sector.  Logistics leaders are unsung heroes.  She gave 5 Ps of Logistics which include 01. Processes, 02. Position, 03, Pricing, 04. People and 05. Policy.
 
She gave an example of the British to explain how important is Logistics.  When Britishers first invaded India, they first controlled the Logistics, and then trade.  That gave them an advantage and then they managed to have sustained leadership. 
 
Telangana was one of the first states in India to come out with a Logistics Policy.  It is also one of the few states in India for integrating Logistics with Trade.  This course gives you the right set of tools, she said.
 
Kamal Jain, Director Cargomen, one of the faculty members as well as the committee member of FTCCI said the difference between the developed and developing nations is the standards of its logistics.  How well your daily requirement of essential goods depends on the efficiency of your supply chain management, he said.
 
Giving his opening remarks, Meela Jayadev, President of FTCCI, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management is not only important for exports but also for domestic supply chain management.  It is more crucial now than ever. It is the backbone of modern commerce.
 
The Skill Development Centre of the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) is organizing Certificate Courses in Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
 
Dr Ankit Bhatnagar, Director of FTCCI Pokarna Skill Centre said India is going to be the developed nation.  We export a lot.  But India's fiscal deficit for the first quarter of this fiscal year through June stood at 4.51 lakh crore rupees. 
 
The certificate course is on ten weekends, on Saturdays.  Beginning today it will conclude in the first week of November.  The Classes will be held at FTCCI Pokarna Skill Centre, Federation House, Red Hills from 10.30 am to 5 pm.
 
The program is designed to offer a comprehensive and immersive learning experience. The program incorporates various teaching techniques and learning opportunities to ensure participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical insights into the industry.
 
One of the key highlights of the program is the 2 days of Industrial exposure, which adds significant value to the overall learning journey. Field visits to ICD, GMR Air Cargo Complex, HUL, Amazon Fulfilment Centre, Reliance Digital, and Flipkart are part of the course.
 
Many experts from the industry will run the classes and share their practical insights into the industry.
