Rohtak, November 26, 2024: Various programs were organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of late Ch. Ranbir Singh, a freedom fighter and member of the Constituent Assembly and the Constitution Day.

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda participated in various programs and wished countrymen on Constitution Day. Hooda paid tribute to the late Ch. Ranbir Singh at the Samadhi Sthal on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

Various Congress MLAs and senior leaders were present on this occasion. Along with this, a large number of Gandhian leaders, workers and family members of freedom fighters from the country and the state also paid tribute to Ch. Ranbir Singh and remembered his contribution to the freedom movement.

Hooda also paid tribute to Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian constitution. He said his father, late Ch. Ranbir Singh Hooda considered the Constitution to be the greatest achievement.

“The Constitution has given equal rights and freedom of expression to every citizen of the country. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us to protect the Constitution and the independence of the country,” former CM said.

Hooda shared many life stories of Ch. Ranbir Singh, and said that it is a happy coincidence that Constitution Day is also celebrated on the birthday of Ch. Ranbir Singh.

“I am proud that my father was imprisoned in 8 different prisons of the British during the struggle for the independence of the country. Out of these, four jails are in India today and four have gone to Pakistan,” Hooda said.

“Even after independence, Ch. Ranbir Singh’s life remained dedicated to the nation and society. After independence, he became the youngest member of the Constituent Assembly. He was the only member of the Constituent Assembly from Haryana region (of the then Punjab province). He was the first to propose MSP for farmers in the Constituent Assembly in 1948. After that, the system of MSP for farmers was implemented in future,” he added.

“While serving as a minister in the governments of Haryana and Punjab, he made an invaluable contribution to the development of the country. He played an important role in the construction of Bhakra Nangal Dam Project, India's first mega dam, which provided perennial water supply to the farmers,” Hooda said.

“Ch. Ranbir Singh Hooda was a strong advocate of social equality. On November 6, 1948, in the meeting of the Indian Legislative Council, he said that we want to create a classless society, in which everyone has equal rights. He believed that the country and the country's constitution are incomplete without villages, poor and farmers. This is the reason that as a result of the immediate approval and quick implementation of a big project like Bhakra Nangal, the work of the Bhakra Canal System was completed in record time and it was dedicated to the nation on 22 October 1963 by the country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru,” former CM stated.
