Dharamsala, April 12, 2022: Dr  Khushal Sharma, Superintendent of Police, District Kangra informed that the district police have  busted a sex racket in the district and  said , “A secret information was received on Monday  that prostitution is being run in a Hotel in Damtal at the border of Punjab. A special team was formed under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Baldev Dutt, which included SHO Bindu Chandel of Mahila Police Station Dharamsala, Chief Constable Harish Sen and others.”

He said, “On the basis of information, the special police team raided the Hotel on Monday and the operation continued till Tuesday morning, in which   five women were recovered from the hotel.”
A case has been registered against the hotel owner under Sections 342, 370 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 3, 4, 5, 6 of the Prevention of Immoral Trade Act, 1956. Two persons have been arrested in the case. The investigation of the case is still on.

Dr Sharma today also conducted a meeting with Police Officers and Staff of District Kangra at Dharamsala, in which appropriate guidelines have been given for the review of investigations and their speedy disposal. Appropriate guidelines have also been given by the SP, for analyzing the criminal modus operandi (Modus Operandi) and curbing cybercrime.

Apart from this, strict instructions have been given to police supervision officers and station in-charges to take action in cases related to Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act, Himachal Pradesh Excise Act and illegal mining.

In view of increasing tourism in the district in the summer season, proper orders have been given to all the units to maintain the law and order and effective traffic management in the district.
