Ludhiana, April 27, 2024: Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22nd every year to demonstrate support for environmental protection and our planet, Mother Earth. Horizon School Of Excellence, a unique initiative of Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust and Shri Gow Rakshni Sabha, extended the celebrations to an entire week.
Students from Pravesh Vatika (early childhood education) class to grade III participated in numerous clean and green activities planned to celebrate Earth Week.
On Day 1, a special song for the occasion was presented by Grade I, II, and III students. The purpose of the song was to sensitize and raise awareness of the need to protect Earth and its natural resources from human actions. Rhymes, paper craft, and colouring activities, such as colouring pictures of Mother Earth, were organized for Pravesh Vatika and Upvan students.
Day 2 was dedicated to "Dharti ke Neele Rang" (the blue colour of the Earth), where students of grades I, II, and III made posters depicting their thoughts on how they could contribute to saving water on Mother Earth in their own little ways.
Day 3, "Aao Dharti Sajayein" (Let's adorn our Mother Earth), saw a tree plantation activity carried out by all students from Pravesh Vatika to grade III in the presence of the Principal.
Day 4, "Harit Kranti" (Go Green), had students spreading green messages through leaf painting and bottle painting, with the latter to be used as planters, thereby lessening the load of plastic bottles on the planet.
Day 5, "Terracotta Creations," involved a hands-on activity of creating clay pots and utensils by students from Pravesh Vatika to grade III under the guidance of their educators.
The purpose behind celebrating an entire week as Earth Week was to raise awareness of the need to protect Earth's natural resources for future generations and to contribute in our own little ways towards a cleaner and greener future.
