Aam Aadmi Party welcomes High Court's decision to dismiss petition regarding panchayat elections

Chandigarh, October 14, 2024: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has welcomed the Punjab and Haryana High Court's decision to dismiss the petition regarding panchayat elections and expressed gratitude to the High Court.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann thanked the High Court via X and stated that the path for panchayat elections is now completely clear. Panchayat elections in Punjab will take place as scheduled on October 15. He urged all Punjabis to vote while maintaining mutual brotherhood and to choose good representatives from their villages who can contribute to village's development. He also wished good luck to all sarpanch and panch candidates for the panchayat elections!

Aam Aadmi Party leader and senior spokesperson Neel Garg said that the High Court's decision is a tight slap on the face of the false propaganda of opposition parties. He mentioned that they spread a false narrative to mislead the people and leveled baseless accusations against us. He stated that Congress was playing "pressure politics," but the High Court rejected it. Now the people of Punjab will also reject Congress.

Garg said that all the petitions were politically motivated and aimed at defaming the Aam Aadmi Party and our government, but the High Court has taught them a lesson. He emphasized that the Aam Aadmi Party has always been in favor of free and fair elections. The disqualification of candidates has nothing to do with the government or the party, nor does the Aam Aadmi Party interfere in the electoral process.

Neel Garg cited the example of Manpreet Badal and Raja Warring, saying that Congress members are accusing us of bullying, while their party chief Raja Warring threatened a close associate of Manpreet Badal in Giddarbaha, forcing the cancellation of his son and wife's nominations.
