Aam Aadmi Party’s Inderjit Kaur New Mayor of Ludhiana
After a long wait, Ludhiana has finally got its new Mayor. Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Principal Inderjit Kaur has been elected as the Mayor of Ludhiana. Meanwhile, Rakesh Parashar has been elected as the Senior Deputy Mayor, and Prince Johar as the Deputy Mayor.
Ludhiana, January 20, 2025: After a long wait, Ludhiana has finally got its new Mayor. Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Principal Inderjit Kaur has been elected as the Mayor of Ludhiana. Meanwhile, Rakesh Parashar has been elected as the Senior Deputy Mayor, and Prince Johar as the Deputy Mayor.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party Punjab President Aman Arora congratulated all the newly elected office bearers and said that under the leadership of Aam Aadmi Party, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation administration will work with complete honesty and transparency and pave the way for the city's development.
Aman Arora addressed the media during a press conference in Ludhiana along with party leaders. Arora said that today marks the beginning of a new chapter in Ludhiana, the Aam Aadmi Party has given Ludhiana its first female Mayor. Our Deputy Mayor, Rakesh Parashar, is also highly experienced, having been elected as a councilor six times.
He further stated that since the municipal election results across Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party has secured over 35 Mayor and President positions so far. This is a matter of immense pride for us and marks a new beginning for Punjab as well.
Aman Arora also remembered the late Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gurpreet Gogi and said that it was his heartfelt wish that the Aam Aadmi Party should have a Mayor in Ludhiana with a full majority. Today, we are extremely happy that his wishes have come true.
Arora praised the party workers, leaders, and local MLAs for their dedication and hard work during the municipal election campaign and thanked them. He said that it is because of the tireless efforts of the party workers that the dream of having our Mayor in Ludhiana has been fulfilled today.
Speaking about future strategies, Arora said that stalled development works will be completed expeditiously, and new plans will be implemented to make the city beautiful and clean. He emphasized that keeping the city clean and providing basic amenities to the people is their top priority. For this, our Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and all councilors will work tirelessly.
Earlier, the newly elected councillors of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) were administered an oath by Divisional Commissioner, Patiala Daljit Singh Mangat. Being the members of the general house of MC, Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, MLA Madan Lal Bagga, MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi, MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal, MLA Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina, MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu and MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal among other officials were also present during the oath taking ceremony.
Later, the newly elected Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar, Deputy Mayor Prince Johar along with city MLAs and their supporters paid obeisance at Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib and Durga Mata Mandir near Jagraon bridge. They also paid tribute to martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Jagraon bridge and Dr BR Ambedkar at Jalandhar bypass.
