Jalandhar/Chandigarh, July 5, 2024: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Mohinder Pal Bhagat's father and former minister, Chunnilal Bhagat, has appealed to the people to support his son in the by-election of Jalandhar west and make him win.
In his statement released through a video on Friday, Chunnilal Bhagat said, "I have become very old, so I have asked my son to contest the election for you. I request you to make Mohinder Pal win. He will work for you with more honesty and dedication than me and will develop this area."
He said that looking at the current situation of this area, I want a good and honest man to become the representative of the people here. Mohinder Pal is an honest person. He will never disappoint you.
Chunni Lal Bhagat has been an MLA from Jalandhar West seat once and from Jalandhar South assembly seat twice. He was the minister with many important portfolios including local bodies during the Akali-BJP government. Due to advancing age, he left active politics and handed over this responsibility to his son Mohinder Bhagat in 2022.
