Ludhiana, April 15, 2025: Ludhiana North MLA Madan Lal Bagga stated today that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is realizing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s dream by introducing reservations in the Advocate General’s office for the first time in Punjab’s history.
Speaking to the media at his office, Bagga highlighted the government’s proactive measures to address longstanding barriers faced by advocates from the Scheduled Caste (SC) community. “We identified that around 15 posts in the Advocate General’s office remained vacant due to an excessively high income eligibility limit, which excluded many deserving candidates,” he explained. To rectify this, the government engaged in consultations with prominent Dalit advocates and MLAs to devise an inclusive solution.
On the instructions of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann amendments were made to slash the income ceiling by half—from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 10 lakh and from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh in the appointment of law officers. “This transformative step ensures that talented SC advocates can now aspire to prestigious roles like Advocate General. He described the reform as a landmark achievement, reflecting AAP’s commitment to social justice and equality.
