The Aam Aadmi Party has welcomed the High Court's decision to open Punjab-Haryana border 'Shambhu Border' (where farmers have been sitting on dharna for the last several months). The party said that all the demands of the farmers are justified, so the central government should consider fulfilling their demands instead of stopping them at the border.

Chandigarh, July 10, 2024: The Aam Aadmi Party has welcomed the High Court's decision to open Punjab-Haryana border 'Shambhu Border' (where farmers have been sitting on dharna for the last several months). The party said that all the demands of the farmers are justified, so the central government should consider fulfilling their demands instead of stopping them at the border.

On Wednesday, senior leader and spokesperson of Aam Aadmi Party Punjab, Neel Garg said that before becoming the Prime Minister in 2013, Narendra Modi himself had said that he will waive the entire debt of the farmers and make a law on MSP as per the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.  But Prime Minister Modi went back on his promise, so the farmers are forced to go to Delhi.

Garg said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has betrayed the farmers of the country. He did not fulfill a single promise related to the farmers, on the contrary, he tried to impose anti-farmers agricultural laws on them to hand over the land and crops to his corporate friends, due to which more than 750 farmers died.

He said that when Prime Minister Modi had announced to repeal the farm laws out of fear of the farmers' movement, even at that time he had said that a committee would be formed on MSP and work would be done towards making it legal, but till date he has not fulfilled it. If the Modi government had implemented MSP legally in two years, then the farmers of Punjab and Haryana would not have had to go to Delhi again.

He said that thankfully the High Court intervened in this matter, otherwise the highway would have remained closed indefinitely. Now after the court's decision, both the common people and the farmers will get relief. Travel will be easy for the common people.  At the same time, farmers will again get a chance to convey their views to the central government in a peaceful manner.
