A silent protest condemning the recent rape incidents being held by AAP workers at Ludhiana on Tuesday.

Ludhiana, March 10, 2015: Aam Aadmi Party Ludhiana today held a silent protest over the ghastly gang rape incident, which happened on women’s day 8th March. This protest was held outside the Police Commissioner’s office and a silent march was carried out from there towards the DC office and the Ferozepur road, where it culminated. AAP district convener Ahbaab Singh Grewal said that this protest was held to highlight the increasing levels of rapes and other crimes against women in the city and the state. The Aam Aadmi Party team handed over a memorandum to the Police Commissioner Ludhiana, which demanded the immediate arrest of the remaining accused and the reduction of police personnel on VIP duties and their deployment towards securing the general public and women in particular. AAP also demanded that the police be sensitised to make them realise that the security of the common man is as important as that of VIPs’. Various other demands regarding women safety were also submitted in the memorandum. The Police Commissioner assured the AAP team of the action and of taking concrete steps in this regard.

The AAP Team which submitted the Memorandum to the Police Commissioner consisted of Ahbaab Singh Grewal, Dr, HS Cheema, Adv. Varinder Khara, Col. CM Lakhanpal, Col. Darshan Singh Dhillon, Amritpal Singh, Davinder Singh Grewal.
